Document Image Adjustment Tools
Incorporated within Epson GT-S50’s bundled Epson Scan 3.6 software is a comprehensive range of advanced document image adjustment tools. Each of these tools, which are readily accessible from the Epson Scan interface, provide users with high levels of control over scanning output. The tools include:
- Text Enhancement: Sharpens text characters and can remove the ‘show-through’ background that often occurs when scanning double-sided documents. By using the Text Enhancement tool, optical character recognition of text is significantly improved.
- Colour Enhancement: With Colour Enhancement, individual RGB colours on the original document can be focused on and enhanced during the scanning process. This is particularly beneficial when scanning documents that have either light or faded components, such as text and graphics.
- Colour Drop Out: In order to enhance the readability of documents, it is sometimes required that specific colours be ‘dropped out’ – especially when the original document has been subjected to rubber stamps or even handwriting. Using Colour Dropout, the Epson GT-S50 can be set to ignore a specified colour during the scanning process.
- Auto Area Segmentation (AAS): To address the black–and–white contrast problem that often occurs when scanning black–and–white documents containing images and graphics, the AAS tool can be set to automatically detect images and enhance their visibility and contrast while still ensuring accurate and crisp text scanning.
