Advanced Film Scanning
The Epson PERFECTION 4870 PHOTO scanner features a fully integrated high speed moving carriage-type Transparency Unit (TPU), which is the first in this class of scanners. This advanced film scanning feature provides support for four film holders:
- 24 frames of 35mm strip film
- 8 frames of 35mm slides mounted film
- 3 frames of Medium format 120/220 (6 x 12cm)
- 2 frames of 4 x 5-inch film
By changing these bundled film holders, the PERFECTION 4870 PHOTO is capable of simultaneously scanning strip film or mounted slides. For the photo enthusiast it's worth noting that scanning negatives can actually result in a larger image and with more detail than photograph scans. Better still, you can control the size of the prints and crop any unwanted elements.
