Case Studies
Action Labels & Nameplates
SurePress L-6034VW
Since 1945, Melbourne-based Action Labels & Nameplates has built a reputation for being inventive and forward-thinking. With conventional printing machinery getting less competitive in today's digital world, business owner James Malone turned to the Epson SurePress L-6034VW inkjet label press with LED UV curing ink.
Malone comments, "The SurePress L-6034VW certainly fulfils our requirements and those of the market. It can print on stock widths from 80 mm to 340 mm wide, and the digital varnish station allows matt or gloss UV varnish effects to be created after CMYK or WCMYK printing. As a result, we are using the SurePress L-6034VW for CMYK printing and durable labels for the lucrative cosmetics, beer, and wine markets."
Rotoprint
SurePress L-4033A and L-4533AW
Family-owned and based in West Burleigh, Rotoprint has been in the label printing business for over 18 years, servicing customers in a broad range of industries including food & beverage, wine & spirits and health & wellbeing. Rotoprint actually installed Australia's first Epson SurePress digital label press. Since then, the company has continued to grow its digital business, recently adding a second and now a third SurePress model to further expand options for customers.
The original L-4033A was joined by another, similar model and more recently, a new L-4533AW which can print off-the-shelf materials from 80 mm to 333 mm wide, with a remarkable colour gamut and the option of inline opaque white. "Previously, if we wanted to use transparent substrates, for instance, we'd flood-coat with white on one of the flexo presses before printing digitally," Bogatie explains. "Now it can all be done inline."
Admark Visual Imaging
SurePress L-4533AW
Admark Visual Imaging is a diversified family-owned business on New Zealand's North Island whose label operations span wine & beverage, FMCG, boutique foods & products, industrial & chemical and more. The company didn't rush their entry into digital label press technology; they waited, investigated their options carefully, and eventually chose the Epson SurePress L-4033A, which they have subsequently upgraded to the SurePress L-4533AW.
Admark Manager, Somphane 'Somp' Vanxay, explains: "The SurePress had a number of advantages, but the most important were Epson's outstanding reputation for print quality and colour superiority. it provides a number of advantages including faster production speeds, opaque white to increase flexibility with things like transparent substrates, and a wider colour gamut to help us hit very tough colours for the corporate market, which makes up so much of our customer base."
