Epson Australia joins the Energy Efficiency Council
Continues strong commitment to sustainability and energy efficient technologies

SYDNEY, 9 May 2019 – Epson Australia has joined the Energy Efficiency Council (EEC), Australia’s peak body for energy efficiency, energy management and demand response. The move is part of Epson’s continued commitment to sustainability and energy efficient technologies. It is this commitment which led Epson to integrate the inherent efficiencies of its PrecisionCore inkjet technology across its range of printers, in particular the WorkForce Enterprise series, which uses up to 87% less power than comparable laser printers.

Epson is the EEC’s newest Sponsor member, joining the ranks of industry leaders ANZ, Schneider Electric, Siemens and Signify.

Energy Efficiency Council CEO Luke Menzel said, “Over the past decade, the EEC has been a vehicle for bringing together individuals and organisations with a deep interest in energy efficiency, and for coordinating effort that drives change. Epson Australia GM Craig Heckenberg said, “The decision to partner with the Energy Efficiency Council was an easy one because both organisations share common values when it comes to energy efficiency. Epson is playing an active role in helping Australian businesses reduce their energy consumption by delivering high quality products that require less energy to operate, without compromising on performance or cost.”

Heckenberg continues, “We see businesses every day, taking practical steps to reduce their energy consumption but there is still more work to be done. Australian businesses are already switching to LED lighting and more carbon efficient air conditioning systems but another area that should also be considered is office equipment. Laser printers and copiers consume a high amount of energy when compared to a business inkjet printer such as Epson’s Workforce Enterprise. By simply switching your laser printer or copier to inkjet you can drive down energy costs even further, while continuing to make a positive contribution to the environment”.

• In 2002, Epson Australia became one of the first printer vendors in Australia to achieve certification to the International Standard ISO 14001 - Environmental Management System.
  
  The NSW Energy and Water Green Globe Awards had awarded Epson a Gold Medal in 2006 as part of the Energy Smart Business Program for having over 75% of its operation energy efficient.
  
  Epson Australia has also achieved finalist status three times for the 10 Year Sustainability Life Award at the Gold Green Globe awards.
  
  Epson Australia continuously sets aggressive targets for reduction of CO2 gas emissions, and re-uses or recycles (diverts from landfill) at least 60% of all waste emanating from its Head Office site in North Ryde.

Epson WorkForce Enterprise max power consumption of 320W is 87% less than the average of 22 laser counterpart 60 ppm+ models available in the Australian market as at 31 October 2018, based on manufacturers' own specifications.
