The Colour Brightness specification provides a new way to compare projectors. It doesn't require you to purchase new equipment, it just offers you the way to make a more informed decision when comparing projectors. The significant difference in colour is because these projectors have very different colour brightness levels, despite their white brightness levels being similar.

Brightness is measured in lumens, but these are the measurements to look for:
Colour Brightness - Colour Light Output
White Brightness - White Light Output
Many projector manufacturers provide only one brightness number. If you see only one number, it's a white brightness measurement.
With high Colour Brightness, you'll see vibrant, realistic colours. When Colour Brightness is low, colours can look dull and dark, skin tones can be reproduced poorly and important details can be lost. Instead of measuring just white light, a new international standard was developed to measure the brightness of red, green and blue light. This value correctly describes the overall brightness of the projector, not just the brightness of the white, and provides projector buyers critical information.

One specification for lumens does not tell the story of both colour and white brightness.
If a projector has high white brightness, it may have low colour brightness. In fact, the colour brightness of that projector could be 1/3 of the rated specification provided.
And, consider this interesting factoid, 86% of all presentations contain colour.

Epson projectors use 3LCD Engines that have no colour wheel with a white segment and therefore don't force a tradeoff between white and colour brightness.
All Epson projectors list both White Brightness and Colour Brightness specifications, and all have high Colour Brightness.
In fact, Epson projectors have up to 3x Brighter Colours* than their leading competitive 1-chip DLP projectors. If you are looking for business and education projectors or 720p home entertainment projectors, know that choosing Epson projectors means 3X brighter colours. If you are looking for 1080p home entertainment projectors, you consistently get 2x and up to 3x Brighter Colours than leading 1-chip DLP projectors.
